Hisaka Vacuum Belt Dryer (SBD) is a continuous drying system designed for highly concentrated and high-viscosity liquid solutions. By operating under vacuum conditions at low temperatures, the SBD gently removes moisture from heat-sensitive products while preserving flavor, color, nutrients, and active ingredients.
The system feeds liquid material onto a heated belt that moves through a vacuum chamber. As the belt travels, moisture evaporates at reduced pressure and low temperature, producing dried flakes, powders, or granules with superior quality compared to conventional spray drying or freeze drying.
Ideal for food extracts, pharmaceutical concentrates, enzyme preparations, and other heat-sensitive materials that require gentle drying with minimal thermal degradation.
Vacuum operation enables evaporation at 40-80°C, protecting heat-sensitive compounds from thermal degradation and preserving product quality.
Automated feed-to-discharge process enables uninterrupted production, improving efficiency and consistency compared to batch drying methods.
Specially designed feeding system can pump and spread highly viscous liquids (up to 100,000 cP or more) evenly across the drying belt.
Gentle drying preserves color, flavor, aroma, and nutritional content. Produces porous, easily reconstitutable flakes or powders.
Belt tracking system and accessible chamber design simplify cleaning and belt replacement. CIP-ready options available.
Vacuum system reduces boiling point, lowering energy consumption. Heat recovery options available for additional savings.
The Hisaka SBD operates through a continuous vacuum drying process:
Concentrated liquid (10,000-100,000+ cP) is pumped from storage tank to the feeding system.
Liquid is spread evenly onto the heated stainless steel belt at controlled thickness (1-5mm).
Belt travels through vacuum chamber (50-100 mbar) while heated zones (40-80°C) evaporate moisture gently.
Evaporated water vapor is continuously removed by vacuum pump and condensed in external condenser.
Dried flakes are scraped off the belt and optionally milled into powder, then discharged to collection container.
Final moisture content (1-5%) is controlled by adjusting belt speed, temperature zones, and vacuum level.
Hisaka Vacuum Belt Dryer (SBD) is ideal for heat-sensitive products requiring gentle drying:
Protein hydrolysates, yeast extracts, maltodextrin, fruit juice concentrates, coffee extract, tea extract, natural sweeteners.
Enzyme preparations, probiotics, amino acids, vitamins, herbal extracts, fermentation broths, bioactive compounds.
Catalysts, pigments, dyes, polymer additives, ceramic precursors, battery materials, specialty chemicals.
Plant extracts, essential oil residues, botanical concentrates, traditional medicine preparations, cosmetic ingredients.
Low-temperature vacuum drying preserves heat-sensitive compounds better than spray drying or atmospheric drying.
Automated operation from feed to discharge improves throughput and reduces labor costs compared to batch dryers.
Independent control of belt speed, temperature zones, vacuum level, and feed rate ensures consistent product quality.
Energy-efficient vacuum operation and optional heat recovery reduce utility costs and environmental impact.
For product development and process validation, Hisaka offers Vacuum Belt Drying Testers for laboratory and pilot-scale testing:
Small-scale tester for drying high-concentration and high-viscosity liquids at low temperature under vacuum. Ideal for R&D, product trials, and feasibility studies before full-scale production.
